�A new imaging system that allows physicians to examine tissue paper at the cellular level from inside the consistency may now enable them to more effectively diagnose cancer of the gall ducts, according to a new survey in the September 2008 issue of the diary Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This cancer, medically known as cholangiocarcinoma, is one and only of the most unmanageable to find and treat.
"Accurate diagnosis and staging of malignant neoplastic disease of the bile duct remains a challenge scorn advanced imaging methods and the launching of tissue sampling methods," said lead investigator Alexander Meining of the Technical University of Munich. "Adding this noninvasive tool that allows us to persuasion abnormal bile duct tissue paper while it's still inside the body increases diagnostic accuracy of cancer of the bile duct."
Dr. Meining and his colleagues conducted the 14-patient study to measure the ability of the Cellvizio confocal microscopy system to detect neoplasia (an abnormal growth of cells that toilet be benign, pre-cancer or cancer) in biliary piece of ground tissue by examining tissue at the cellular point during Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a procedure victimized to name cancer of the bile ducts and pancreas.
They found that Cellvizio predicted neoplasia with a sensitivity of 83%, considerably better than the 50% seen with measure histopathological analysis of biopsied tissue taken from strictures. Cellvizio has 510(k) clearance from the Food & Drug Administration and the European CE-Mark for use in the gastrointestinal and pneumonic tracts. Black Francis performs marathon set at Club NME LA
Black Francis performed a marathon set of his recent solo material for a sold-out crowd at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last nox (August 20).
The Pixies frontman, backed by a drummer and bassist, tore through his latest full-length album 'Bluefinger' in its entiretly, as well as the bulk of his late EP 'Svn Fngrs' for the worshipful Spaceland audience.
"Don't clap so far, it's premature," he quipped when the crowd erupted as he took the stage. There was a bit of a snafu when Francis stopped in the middle of his second sung dynasty, 'Threshold Apprehension'. "My bad," he apologised. "I had a white wine spritzer ahead the show and I'm a little discombobulated."
The isthmus quickly recovered and proceeded to play several songs inspired by the biography and workings of Dutch musician and artist Herman Brood, including a cover of his song 'You Can't Break A Heart And Have It'.
"It's all around Herman," aforementioned a sweat-soaked Francis, before adding, "Sorry we're only playing new obscure songs you're unfamiliar with." This didn't halt the crowd from dance and moshing throughout the night.
Francis also played a cover of Gary Green's 'Burnt Out Rock And Roll', but no Pixies tunes despite various cries from the audience to play material by his early band. This didn't faze Francis, wHO seemed philosophic about his affiliation with one of indie rock's greatest bands when talk to NME.COM after his set.
"In a sense you kinda milk it," Francis aforesaid. "(The Pixies) gave me financial exemption so it's all good. It's a win-win. It's my career card. It's nice to have a calling bill because I know a lot of people world Health Organization may be good just don't let one. It gets me invited to parties I wouldn't be invited to otherwise."
As for the gig, Francis said, "We were turned of our game just slightly, mayhap, but it was enjoyable. This was sort of a warm up gig for Del Mar to get our juices flowing. I used to come here to Spaceland when I lived in LA, so it's nice to finally play here."
Francis is set to perform in Del Mar, California tomorrow night (August 22) before embarking on a tour of Australia later this month.

Brooklyn MC J-Live outset garnered notice with the spill of his 1995 single "Bragging Writes." Delivering his thoughtful lyrics with confidence and informality, J-Live's rapping was inviolable and his soul-inflected grooves immediately appealed to fans of metro hip-hop. In the meanwhile, J-Live worked as an one-eighth grade instructor in Brunswick and continued to prettify and refine his debut. He unbroken good company, making cameo appearances on hard albums like Handsome Boy Modeling School's So How's Your Girl? and J Rawls' The Essence of J Rawls. Although analysts and nay-sayers have predicted its demise for the last half-century, the good old vinyl album simply refuses to roll over and die as hi-fi purists, DJ�s, young hipsters and simply those with a keen sense of history continue to argue its corner as the most emotionally charged and sonically-rich means of hearing your favourite tracks.
As methods of music carriage grow ever tinier and conceptual � the romance of the album becomes more compelling with the passage of time. The rituals and reminiscences attached� the artwork� the inner sleeve� the sheer size of the package � all take on potency as time passes. The limitations of the format meant that every masterwork had to come in around the 40 minute mark. Because there was no self-programming � the only running order you knew was the one that was painstakingly concocted in the studio. That�s why it�s impossible to hear �Visions� from Steve Wonder�s Innervision without waiting to hear �Living In The City� about to start. Or getting ready for �Blue Condition� to end on Disraeli Gears by Cream so you could hear �Brave Ulysses�. If you wanted to skip a track � you had to get up off your backside to move the needle on. And that of course was all part of the love affair. And now, according to Billboard � there is a growing generation who are eschewing CD altogether and plumping instead for a vinyl version and a download instead. s
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the long-playing record, Universal Music Group is proud to announce the release of 80 titles (in four batches) on much loved 30cm black vinyl across 2008; starting with the first batch of 20 titles in July 2008. All will be exact replicas of the original packages. Classics of the past sixty-years will be available again!

Natalie Portman - Portman Quits Wuthering Heights
Hollywood star NATALIE PORTMAN has dropped out of a forthcoming big-screen adaptation of WUTHERING HEIGHTS over conflicts in her schedule.
The Star Wars actress was set to play the film's lead role, Cathy Earnshaw, in John Maybury's take on the classic Emily Bronte novel, but has quit the project in favour of an unknown movie venture.
Portman was slated to appear opposite German actor Michael Fassbender, who will play the iconic Heathcliff in the film.
Movie bosses at Ecosse Films are said to be determined to shoot the movie on schedule and are currently searching for a replacement for Portman.

He said: "We're trying to get youngsters to the festival this year. Hopefully the headliner will appeal to them. Traditionally we've had a very white line-up and I'm moving away from that."
